Glucosamine is an amino sugar produced by the body (endogenously) and is particularly abundant in the cartilage and synovial fluid. It contributes to the structure and function of articular cartilage, the soft tissue covering the bone within the joint space.
There are dietary sources of glucosamine. Therefore, when the body is unable to synthesize longer alone sufficient amount of glucosamine is essential supplementation in order to maintain the structure and function (movement) of joints.
